Banda pionera del death metal formada en Estados Unidos (en Tampa, Florida para ser exactos) en el año de 1983 bajo el nombre de "Mantas", que un año mas tarde cambiaria su nombre a "Death", esta banda tuvo una gran evolucion, empezo tocando death metal a la old school, para depues terminar siendo una de la bandas creadoras del progressive death metal, su lider Chuck "Evil Chuck" Schuldiner (Charles Michael Schuldiner) fue un gran musico y compositor, falleciendo desgraciadamente el 21 de diciembre del 2001 debido a cancer en el cerebro, pero dejando un gran legado en la musica del metal; tambien se puede apreciar su virtuosismo en la guitarra en su banda paralela a Death, Control Denied... en la que practicaba un progressive metal bastante tecnico como debe ser dicho genero, a lado de su gran amigo y compañero de banda (tambien en Death) Steve DiGiorgio, el cual es un gran bajista en lo que respecta al metal y al cual podemos escuchar tambien en Sadus, y algunos trabajos de Testament entre otras bandas... pero bueno sin mas que decir aqui dejo la discografia... y larga vida a Chuck!!!...
